Input: State and local IT spending on the rebound By William Welsh Senior Writer An explosive demand for outsourced technical services will drive profound increases in state and local IT spending over the next five years, according to a forecast released today by the market research firm Input Inc., Reston, Va. State and local spending is expected to grow by 45 percent over the next five years from $48 billion in fiscal 2005 to $70 billion by fiscal 2010, Input said at its “MarketView 2005 Conference” in Falls Church, Va.

Government spending for IT is expected to rise at an annual rate of 5.3 percent, from $70.7 billion this fiscal year to $91.4 billion in fiscal 2010, said Payton Smith, director of public sector market analysis for the Reston, Va., company.
